What happens when Artificial Intelligence goes beyond our control?
This is the unsettling story of an AI app called Back2Life and one grieving widow who used it to recreate her beloved, deceased husband. Using the data from a dead person’s social media footprint, ‘Back2Life’ was hailed as groundbreaking technology and the first of its kind – offering solace and comfort to those grieving – but as Alle Dawson discovered, it soon evolved to become anything but, becoming uncontrollable and then a malevolent force.
Worse for Alle was that this malevolence hinted at her dead husband’s double life, where online he was embroiled in lies, secrets and the worst kind of violence. Alle’s story is more than just a chilling tale, it’s a wake-up call about the dangers of AI and asks the question – how much do we really know our loved ones?
